When I draw Pyre, I don't draw them in the comic layout the final product is. Insstead, I draw the characters and any necessary stuff on its own, and after scanning and doing what I need to do to make it look pretty, I slap it into the comic layout. This method of madness was a problem here, as you can't see what else Phil has, namely, more Army men toys.
